So I hope everyone’s Christmas was Merry. This year my wife was kind enough to get me a great new shotgun mic. It’s the Rode NTG-3 and it sounds amazing. It’s identical in most characteristics to the Senheiser MKH416 (aka “the 416) which is an industry standard shotgun mic for TV and film production and has been for like 15 years. I also got the 10′ Rode boom pole, an 8 foot and a 20 foot XLR cable, a dead cat windscreen, shock mount and mount for my Zoom H4n mic to mount to the boom pole with. It’s a really great audio recording kit and I’m really looking forward to putting this guy to good use and collecting great audio.
