I am a photographer who simply loves to create imagery I am proud of. If that image is a simple stand alone photograph, or an
in-depth photoshop creation where the photo was the key in bringing it to life, or even a video filled with compelling content, I am happy to produce it and I love the feeling of accomplishment it brings me.
I was raised on a graphic design background through my family who are all artists. As a child, my dad simply painted to put food on the table. He mostly painted paintings but also ventured into wall murals. As his growing family became too expensive for a starving artist, he moved on to graphic arts. My dad was a graphic artist years and years before computers we ever thought to be able to produce something graphical. So one may ask, how on earth did he create all those logos and product packages without a computer? He did it the same way we do it now, with creativity (and an airbrush). As time went on and computers started to be used for graphical purposes, my home became filled with macintosh computers.
So being raised with mac’s all around it would be fitting that eventually as I became a defiant teenager I built my first computer that was windows based. In a family with painters, graphic designers, fashion designers, a sculptor, a web designer, and brother who is into everything from painting to 3D animation; I went on to get my education in finance. Yes, while at BYU I used a windows based laptop and got a degree in finance. I took many classes in accounting, financial reporting, marketing, statistics…etc. So a few years after graduating, working in company benefits and receiving most of the financial licenses that one in that field needs like the series 7 for example, I decided to quit being a black sheep in my family and do something I was always meant to do.
The road has been difficult but rewarding. Going from a full benefits salary job to working for yourself is tough on the wallet but it is so much more fulfilling. I feel like I’m now making a much more profound contribution to society and helping people so much more. I just want to thank every single person who has believed in me enough to hire me for the wide variety of things I’ve been blessed to capture.
